rita ora for superga

In the past, Superga brand ambassadors and creative directors have included heavy-hitting style icons such as Alexa Chung and the Olsen twins; so when they announced newest face of their brand to be British pop-sensation Rita Ora, we couldn't wait to see the images they would put out for their first campaign together.  Rita's style perfectly complements the Superga brand; just as with Superga, Rita has always been about comfort and cool.  With her bleach blonde locks and retro styling, set in what looks like a classic recording studio, Rita's first Superga campaign is absolutely stunning and has inspired us to wear our Superga's in a whole slew of new and different ways.  Definitely a match made in shoe heaven.

the giant superga

If you were in Harbour City this weekend, chances are you wouldn't have missed the giant Superga shoe created to celebrate their first store in Hong Kong at Harbour City.  Designed to scale and decorated with an exclusive design by the students of SCAD in Hong Kong, the shoe will be adjudicated by a Guinness Book of World Records representative this week and - fingers crossed - will officially be deemed the world's biggest shoe.  The shoe has since moved from its place at Artrium II of Harbour City.  Sad you missed it?  Not to worry: it's making a reappearance at the prominent outdoor pier area of Harbour City from 12 April to 4 May, so make sure to catch it then!

electric sekki in paris - around the city

We've already taken you behind-the-scenes of what it's like for our Contemporary and Luxury departments on their seasonal trips to Paris Fashion Week and though, of course, we are there for work, there is always a bit of time for play!  Paris is a beautiful city with so much to see and do; it's bursting with culture, art and scrumptious food.  Looking at these pictures makes us want to jet back over there immediately -- luckily for us, we'll be there again next season and the season after that, and the one after that, and so on.  But for those of you who have never been, here's a look into the Electric sekki's experience in Paris, through our lens.

No trip to Paris is complete without a trip to Laduree!

A tower of pastel macaroons.  Deliciously gorgeous.

Artful displays of candies and chocolates.

Oodles and oodles of tempting pastries everywhere you go!

Everywhere!

A gorgeous display of fresh fish at the markets.

Cheese!  A staple of French cuisine.

The beautiful dome at the Galleries Lafayette.

Giusi navigating the Paris Metro system.

Beautiful street corners in Le Marais.

Too quaint for words.

The inverted pyramid inside the Louvre.

Street art everywhere!

Street art at the Centre Pompidou.

A Persian market seller in an old Parisien building.

The Electric sekki team takes some time out after a long day's work.

Paris is full of little bookstores selling speciality items such as these detective and police magazines.

Vintage glossies, got to love them!

electric sekki in paris: luxury

Last week, we took you behind-the-scenes and showed you what it was like to working in Paris during the Fall/Winter 2013 show season with the Contemporary Department.  Today, we're giving you a sneaky peak at the Luxury Department's Paris Fashion Week photo diary.  While Chalayan did show in Paris, it is even more important to set-up a showroom during the week after the show to greet press who want a more up-close look at the clothes and buyers who will actually be buying the clothes for boutiques around the world.  No. 21 showed in Milan and also set up a showroom in the ritzy Palais Royale district for the same reason.  Smaller, newer labels, such as D. EFECT take part in group showrooms such as (capsule); a larger quantity of upcoming labels all showing together means that they have a bigger 'pull' for buyers and press to visit them, due to the ease of being able to see them all at once.  Take a sneaky peak at the Paris Fashion Week photo diary from our Luxury Department below.

A rave review with a huge mention in the paper for Hussein Chalayan's innovative, inspiring collection.

Shoes, glorious shoes!
