An important silhouette that came out of the Fall/Winter 2013 shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris was this new, relaxed way to wear skirts and dresses. The look for winter is all about wearing them with relaxed sweaters on top. The overall effect softens the skirts and dresses and gives them a more relaxed, laid-back vibe. The silhouette also has a bit of a grunge-y 90's feeling about it; it's all about breaking the rules and wearing embellished, bright, printed or leather skirts and dresses that would usually be relegated to evening wear in the daytime instead, by adding subtlety in the way of a more conservative, demure knitted sweater on top. It's the perfect balance of high and low and love how relaxed, fresh and cool the approach is. It's time to stock up statement skirts and cozy knitwear, people!
