gangnam style

PSY is set to have the biggest musical comeback Korea's ever seen, due to his viral music video to hit tune Gangnam Style.  Thanks to YouTube, PSY's fame has increased exponentially--having posted his hilarious Gangnam Style on the video sharing platform, he's garnered almost 30 million views in the one month it's been online.  Gangnam Style refers to an affluent area of Korea called Gangnam, and the song is all about a luxurious lifestyle.  So what's the big deal about PSY?  Well, first of all, he's funny as hell, he's got killer dance-moves and, finally, he's got a unique fashion style that he embraces wholeheartedly.  So it's obvious why we're so crazy about him.  And we fell for him even more when we saw his 'love interest' in the video dressed in a House of Holland 'Bingo Ball' sweater -- I think it's safe to say that we're in love!

House of Holland's 'Bingo Ball' sweater makes a stunning appearance!

House of Holland is available at A Boutique and Liger in Hong Kong; Feispace, Glossy, Arrtco and Uoofo.com in China; 707 in Indonesia; Darling You, Koon and Tom Greyhound Downstairs in Korea; Nicole Boutique in Macau; Inhabit in Singapore; Secret Service in Taiwan, and Emporium in Thailand.

spotted on: david in superga

Ladies, you can thank us later; here's top Hong Kong male model and incredibly talented documentary fine art photographer, David Elliott, looking mighty fine in his off-duty uniform of a fitted white tee and ripped jeans, topping things off with his trusty Supergas in classic white.  Our friend David was style-snapped on the streets by Vancouver Fashion Week for their blog while visiting Canada.  We love how he kept things simple but chic by sticking to basics that fit perfectly.  There's nothing we love more than a handsome guy who can pull of a nonchalant casual look with such perfect execution. A shining example of the power of good basics--keep it up, David!

Superga is available in Hong Kong at Shoespace in LAB Concept and Lane Crawford.

Where's Waldo? was one of our favourite picture books when we were young -- who are we kidding, it's still a favourite of ours!  So we were delighted to come across this Where's Waldo? themed post on the House of Holland blog.  These layouts were lifted from the pages of Marie Claire UK, whose art direction is always stunning.  Think you know your House of Holland Fall/Winter 2012 fabrics and textures?  Step up to the challenge and play Where's Holland? below.

friday femme fatale

If you haven't yet heard of Twenty6 magazine, then you're bound to fall in love with them right now, due to this absolutely stunning Femme Fatale editorial, shot by Jon Compson.  Twenty6 magazine is a purely online publication, currently in its sixth issue or, as they like to call it, issue F (as in ABCDEF or 123456).  Shot in what appears to be the most amazingly sumptuous garden of plush flowers we've ever seen, two gorgeous girls with flowing locks are pictured frolicking around the grounds in lacy gowns and delicate lingerie.  It's ultra feminine, done to dreamy perfection!

Check out more from Twenty6 here.

love courtney love

90's grunge often inspires entire collections of designers across the world, and this F/W '12 season it's had a huge influence on Stylestalker.  The grunge movement of the 90's was spearheaded by rockstar Kurt Cobain and his band, Nirvana, who were often seen wearing tattered old plaid shirts.  Kurt's beau, Courtney, was also launched into stardom as a style icon.  And thus we have the birth of Stylestalker's 'Courtney Love' shirt; perfectly baggy, delightfully flimsy and impeccably plaid, it's a sure-fire hit this winter and has already been seen on supermodel Aline Weber and popstar Ashlee Simpson.

Popstar Ashlee Simpson styles her Stylestalker 'Courtney Love' shirt by tying it around her waist for a grungy look.

pedal to the metal

Metallic mania has taken the fashion industry by storm.  It's popping up in all sorts of variations, from clothing and accessories to shoes and embellishment.  Whatever your style, make sure you introduce some metallic elements this F/W '12 season.  Gone are the cheesy futuristic interpretations of this texture from the 90's and early 00's; designers are now taking it to a whole new level of chic sophistication.  Check out some of our favourite metallic offerings this season below.

Sleek and chic: sass & bide's metallic silver leather mini.

Not for the faint-hearted: metallic silver Supergas paired with silver foil pants on The Man Repeller.

For the bohemian style set: metallic beaded One Teaspoon cut-offs.

sass & bide is available in Hong Kong at I.T, Harvey Nichols and Little Black Dress

sports fan

ksubi celebrated the start of the new retail season with a launch party for their Fall/Winter 2012 'Bad Sports' collection at their Paddington, Sydney store.  As usual, the ksubi boys drew out a crowd of ridiculously cool people, including top Vogue Australia stylist, Christine Centenera.  In case you haven't yet noticed, athletic-inspired fashion has recently taken the industry by storm, and ksubi's 'Bad Sports' collection has to take the cake for coolest take on sportswear -- but hey, we would expect nothing less from the team at ksubi.

earning her stripes

Russian model, Elena Perminova, has really earned her fashion stripes in this Richard Nicoll printed strappy dress.  Perfectly paired with pink acrylic accessory accents and white platform sandals, the fashion darling recently caught the eyes of heavy hitting street style photographers such as Tommy Ton of Jak & Jil and Russian Vogue.  Richard Nicoll took quintessential summer Breton stripes to a whole new level with his Resort '12 collection by adding a graphic print designed by close friend and long-time collaborator Linder Sterling.  We seriously love the pop of colour and unabashed whimsy of this piece!

la parisienne

You can always count on the Stylestalker girls to put out a killer lookbook, but this season they went positively serial with their F/W '12 Parisienne shoot.  Shot in the world's most romantic city, Paris, we can't help falling in love with the clothes and the scenery featured in the campaign.  La Tour Eiffel, le Trocadero, les Jardins des Tuileries and la Seine all make stunning appearances here, perfectly complemented by the sexy nonchalant chic of Stylestalker's latest collection.  I mean, let's talk about these clothes; they're fit for mini Emmanuelle Alt's, Melanie Hyunh's and Carine Roitfeld's all over the world.  Beautifully chic Paris plus beautifully chic clothes combine together here to create a mind-blowingly stellar campaign; as Stylestalker's very own Sue-Anne San said of the lookbook, we "can’t work out who is sexier - the city or the babe."

Stylestalker is available in Hong Kong at A Boutique, Little Black Dress and Magenta.
