a match made in heaven

Seriously, people! Does it get any better than this? Kate Bosworth & Richard Nicoll are a definite match made in heaven.  Bosworth looks ever much the part of the gorgeous California blonde in this flourescent pink dress, straight off the runway from Nicoll's Resort '12 collection.  I feel like this colour was specially invented for Kate because she looks so phenomenal in it! Nicoll's Resort '12 collection is full of his most beloved signature styles; can't wait until next spring when they hit stores!

best bet: fashion hedonism

Christing from Fashion Hedonism is hot, hott, hottt!  She's got the trifecta of greatness: great legs, great style and great hair.  Here at Electric sekki, we ♥ how she always manages to look both comfortable and sexy at the same time, we ♥ the bohemian accents in all her outfits and we ♥ her indulgent 'hedonistic' live-life-to-the-fullest approach to everything she does!  Honestly, she looks amazing in anything she wears, but we think she looks best in One Teaspoon shorts.  Here's a small taste of the greatness that is her blog.  Keep it up, girl!

yarn bomb

Yarn bombing. It's all the rage. Forget graffiti, murals and Banksy; the coolest thing on the street-art scene at the moment is also known as 'grandma graffiti' and involves guerilla-style crocheting of public features such as statues, lamp posts and buildings. Amazing.  Magda Sayek is one of the more well-known yarn-bombers of today; in the art scene she's also known as Knitta, Please and recently collaborated with INSIGHT on their mind-blowing 'Untitled' campaign. LA's preeminent photo and film studio, Smashbox Studios, recently featured this awesome new artistic medium on their blog, Yello; definitely take the time out to read their great little article on the yarn bombing phenomenon here.

braid it!

So, anyone living in South Asia is sure to know that it is virtually impossible to step outside any air-conditioned space without immediately starting to melt in the sweltering heat.  This poses many problems for us fashion-folk, the most obvious one being that sweat is so not chic.  So how do we stay cool in the summer months?  One of the biggest problems is what to do with our hair.  The moisture makes it frizzy, the heat makes it uncomfortable, and tying it up in a ponytail every day gets oh-so-boring.  That's why we love one of the biggest hair trends to come out of S/S '11: the braid. Or "plait", if you prefer to call it that.  It can be done in a million different ways; from messy, to simple, to mind-blowingly complicated. Take a cue from this hair-inspiration below and get braiding, people!

the glamourai + peter som = genius

Here's a recipe for success: take one gorgeous, quirky, creative New York style blogger, add a sprinkling of Peter Som's playful prints and luxe fabrics, mix ingredients together, finish off with a dusting of statement silver jewellery. What do you get? Sublime photographs such as the ones below.  The Glamourai is Kelly Framel, a stunning style-blogger who also designs her own killer jewellery and sunglasses.  She's got a rockin' bod and the face of an angel.  Oh, and did we mention that she looks amazing in Peter Som?  We love how she paired these silver Peter Som shorts from S/S '11 with a black and white plaid top, grey bag and grey sunnies; keeping everything in the same colour family is the easiest way to look ultra-chic this summer.  The Glamourai is definitely one to watch, so click on over there now and be amazed.  Go, Kelly!

spotted: 桂綸鎂 in n.21

Gorgeous Taiwanese actress, 桂綸鎂 (Gui Lun-mei), chose to wear this sophisticated-sexy Pre-Fall '11 N.21 look to the premier of her newest film at the Shanghai International Film Festival.  She made the look young and fresh by styling her cropped pixie hairstyle in an undone 'messy' way and pairing it with sky-high statement Alaia heels. Yes, the presentation model looks lovely in the look, but 桂綸鎂 looks even more phenomenal by styling it in her own funky way. Absolutely fabulous!

pool party!

Last weekend saw the Hed Kandi Pool Party at The Venetian Macao, which brought out a huge crowd of Asia's coolest people who got together to enjoy a fabulous day of music and dancing.  Even the heavy downpour of rain could not stop the party!  Yeah, crazy kids, that's what we like to see!  With Havaianas floaties in the pool to relax on, the awesome Hed Kandi DJs to rock out to, and the gorgeous Venetian Macao setting, the party was definitely one to remember!
