Remember that photo of top Australian model, Miranda Kerr, captured by People Magazine of her dressed in an over-the-top sporty get-up that included metallic shorts and a red-hot top by Nanushka?  Nobody could figure out what it was all about!  Well, now we have the answer.  It turns out that Miranda was shooting a feature for Vogue Korea.  And what's more is that there was lots more Nanushka featured in the story, too.  That's what we like to see!  The feature had an overall sporty theme which, thanks to Miranda's absolutely killer bod as well as the gorgeous pieces by Nanushka, turned out to be pretty rad.  We think Miranda looks absolutely stunning in everything by the label.  Next season's Nanushka campaign model perhaps?  Now that would be and incredible match-up!

havaianas on holiday

While Electric sekki's beloved Founder and President Amiee Squires-Wills is holidaying in gorgeous Europe, us who are left behind in the office have been following her every move on Instagram, living her holiday vicariously through her as the weather here in Hong Kong bounces between weeks of torrential rain followed by a sporadic few days of extreme heat and intense sunshine.  Needless to say, we would much rather be on vacation in Europe with her!  Some of our favourite shots so far have included vignettes of her various beach accessories which, of course, include her trusty Havaianas, accessorised with Slipyz.  We're craving for a vacation filled with lazy days in the sand in our denim cut-offs and Havaianas, too!  Let's all pray for good weather this weekend so that we can do the same in Hong Kong!

Whenever summer rolls around, we can't help but want to wear lots of colour!  Neons, in particular, are a summer staple around the Electric sekki office--the bright up anything as basic as a classic white tee and denim cut-offs, taking it to a whole new level of chic.  So we were really excited to see Superga's new range of bright neon classic 2750's, just-in at their flagship HarbourCity store.  And what's even cuter is that the styles also come in baby sizes so that mommy and baby can match on a day out at the beach!  The bright neon collection comes in neon pink, bright green and fluorescent yellow.  Which colour is your favourite?

style jam: lauren engel

Photographer Lauren Engel has a keen eye for what's cool on the streets.  Unlike many photographers working in Hong Kong, she's not obsessed with the luxury sector and all of its logo-branded merchandise.  Instead, she's keen on photographing cool, urban pieces in cool, urban locations.  Now, that's our kind of girl!  For our first Style Jam with a photographer, Lauren Engel shot Rachel Hammett in a wardrobe of Minkpink, Stylestalker, One Teaspoon, House of Holland and Superga in a series of colourful settings around Hong Kong.  Her undone, spontaneous approach to photography, coupled with her eye for colour and attitude are what made this Style Jam so unique.  We can't wait to see what else this talented young photographer comes up with next!  She's definitely one to watch!

superwowomg x lauren engel

We here at Electric sekki have always been a huge fan of SUPERWOWOMG's downtown cool-girl style and we were especially happy to hear that she was teaming up with bright young photographer, Lauren Engel, on a mini photo shoot earlier this month.  Lauren's unique photographs are definitely inspired by her Instagram-obsessed generation; they have a spontaneity about them, are vibrant and have a look that resembles a vintage-filter effect that Instagram might try to emulate.  In her photo shoot, SUPERWOWOMG selected a range of pieces from Electric sekki that scream her style: a fun sheer chevron-print top from Minkpink, a pair of perfectly tailored baby pink pants by No. 21 by Alessandro Dell'Acqua and a downtown-cool printed silk bomber from TELA.  Check out the results of their shoot below--and, as always, we can't wait to see what else both SUPERWOWOMG and Lauren Engel come up with in the future!

For those of us who grew up watching Sex & The City, Sarah Jessica Parker will always hold a very special place in our hearts as the queen of fashion and style.  Her on-screen character as Carrie Bradshaw was fashion-obsessed, a devotee to the 'bible' of Vogue.  Much of that love of fashion has rubbed off onto Sarah Jessica herself, and she has confessed on many an occasion her love of design and style.  She is, however, also a working mom to three children, which is why she often favours comfortable basics with a twist on her days off.  So when we saw her in Stylestalker's 'Replicant' denim parka and 'Moon Base' sweater, it all made sense!  She wears these Stylestalker pieces with her signature Manhattan strut and quirky-cool style.  I mean, let's be honest, when it comes to the stylish Manhattan curbside strut, nobody does it better than Sarah Jessica Parker!

song of style ♥'s one teaspoon

Song of Style's Aimee Song has been a long-time fan of One Teaspoon's, particularly favouring their customized denim, little dresses and leather pieces.  Recently on her blog, Aimee has been wearing a heavy rotation of her One Teaspoon favourites; from her trashed boyrfriend jeans which she paired with sexy strappy stilettos and a blazer, to her perforated black leather track shorts which she wore with a sporty tank and sexy heels, to her crystal embellished cut-offs which she complemented with a silk shirt and pointy-toe pumps.  No matter how she wears it, One Teaspoon looks like it was made for her!  We can't wait to see what Aimee of Song of Style wears from the label next.

sass & bide in black & white

When ELLE Hong Kong Deputy Fashion Editor, Winnie Wan, came to Electric sekki with an editorial request for a black-and-white shoot, we immediately suggested that she check out sass & bide's Spring/Summer 2013 collection, which debut at London Fashion Week last year.  The collection was a real statement for the girls at sass & bide, who showed, for the first time, a collection almost entirely devoid of any colour.  Known primarily for their bright beading and vibrant tribal influences, sass & bide had become beloved in worldwide for their colourful designs.  But, if their Spring/Summer 2013 collection and this editorial in ELLE Hong Kong is what sass & bide in black & white looks like, then bring on more monochrome collections, please!  We love it!

ricky wears richard

Richard Nicoll has collaborated with ksubi on his collection of eyewear since his Spring/Summer 2012 collection and, each season, we get thousands of questions about when the collaboration is going to drop in stores.  And though his sunglasses range was always meant to be unisex, it was not until his first menswear collection at the Fall/Winter 2012 London MAN shows that the Richard Nicoll x Ksubi actually debuted on men on the runway, to much acclaim.  So we were really happy to see one of Electric sekki's favourite stylists and long-time friend, Ricky Kwok, sporting a pair of Richard Nicoll x Ksubi Spring/Summer 2013 sunglasses.  They're a classic shape, with a subtle design signature done with a metallic trim around the lenses, keeping the overall look of the frames timeless, with a twist.  We especially love the way Ricky styled them with other modern-updated classics such as a bright cyan button-up shirt and a tan light bomber jacket.  It's the perfect casual summer look; bravo, Ricky!

karena ng ♥ electric sekki

Hong Kong model Karena Ng <吳千語> has been a long-time supporter of Electric sekki, favouring little dresses by the likes of Stylestalker, Something Else, Richard Nicoll and Chalayan Grey.  Karena Ng first came onto the scene in 2010, modeling for TVCs and music videos; her good looks and charm have since propelled her to local celebrity and fame, becoming a spokesmodel for all manner of products and organizations.  For recent appearances, Karena chose two cocktail dresses with a sexy twist; first, Stylestalker's right blue 'Metamorphisis Dress' with a peplum and modern asymmetric hemline, then Something Else's hot pink drop-waist 'Drip Dye' dress.  She also opted for a pink Richard Nicoll sexy silk camisole and pencil skirt combo. We think Karena looks gorgeous in both blue and pink.  Which look is your favourite?

denim inspiration

The sun has finally come out and the first two things we thought of when we saw it were, "We're heading to the beach!" and "We're breaking out our denim shorts!"  There's no summer wardrobe staple more important to us than the classic denim cut-off.  They just look so chic in the sun and, of course, a little bit of tan doesn't hurt!  Paired with a striped tee and sandals for day or with a loose cropped top and heels for night, the denim cut-off is as versatile as it is comfortable.  Our favourites come courtesy of One Teaspoon and ksubi.  And so, to celebrate the return of blue skies and to get you ready for summer, here are some of our favourite denim inspirations to get you excited!
