#21

If there's one item that's made a huge splash on the street-style scene this season, it's Alessandro Dell'Acqua's No. 21 tee.  It comes in an array of different colours and patterns and, as a major bonus, it's gender-free.  Top models such as Catherine McNeil, Caroline Brasch Nielson and Ju Xiao Wen have all been spotted wearing the tee at fashion weeks around the world.  The tee has become so popular that even skater kids have picked up on them and propagated the tees for their own subculture.  The tee are so popular that Dell'Acqua is now also offering up a sweatshirt version that is also oversized and gender-free.  If you're in the market for a T-shirt, then this is definitely the one to have this year.  They look good on, well, everyone, and can be styled in a gazillion different ways.  Gotta have one!

Australian top-model, Catherine McNeil spotted in her No. 21 tee at Milan Fashion Week.

Even Catherine McNeil's fiancee wanted a piece of that No. 21 tee!

Caroline Brasch Nielson hanging out in a No. 21 sweatshirt outside the Alexander Wang show during New York Fashion Week.

Electric sekki favourite, Ju Xiao Wen, also loves her No. 21 tee!

Top model Suvi Koponen in her No. 21 sweatshirt.

Mega babe Nadja bender looks smokin' hot her in No. 21 tee.

Grunge-y Canadian model, Meghan Collison, working her No. 21 tee.

The many, many faces who have worn their No. 21 tee at some point this summer!

The No. 21 tee is so popular, even the skater kids are wearing it.

One more for good measure, just because it's such a dope photo.  Gotta have that tee...

cindiddy ♥'s electric sekki

When the team headed down to New Zealand Fashion Week, we were happy to see our incredibly friend, blogger Cindy Ko of Cindiddy, there as well!  And sporting an array of wares from Electric sekki, too!  With her enviable long legs and recently lightened bleach blonde locks, Cindy would look good in anything, really, but she truly stunned the photographers in D.EFECT, Nanushka, No. 21 by Alessandra Dell'Acqua, TELA, sass & bide.  Cindy's style has always been straight-forward and easy to understand, but always impeccably chic, which is one of the reasons why we love her look so much.  And it's safe to say that everyone in New Zealand loves her look, too--she was constantly being hounded by photographers.  Check out how Cindy wears these gorgeous pieces below and learn from the best!

new york fashion week with justine lee

As a freelance fashion writer and stylist based in Hong Kong, Justine Lee is a fashion contributor to Asia Tatler magazine and regularly styles local celebrity Kary Ng for concerts and public appearances.  Justine had the opportunity to attend New York Fashion Week this season for the Spring/Summer 2014 collections and was subsequently snapped by many a street-style photographer.  We think it's safe to say that she's fast becoming a rising street-style star.  During her stint in New York, Justine attended a range of shows, including Altuzarra, Alexander Wang and Prabal Gurung.  Getting jealous?  Justine was kind enough to contribute a small visiual diary to the Electric sekki blog, chronicling her time at New York Fashion Week.  Live vicariously through her photos below...

"I arrived at my hotel in the Meatpacking District, settled in (unpacked all 2 of my suitcases... for the week--a little excessive, I know) and immediately go across the street to Pastis for a quick bite; their steak tartar is by far my favorite."

"I then head over around the corner to Milk Studios for my first show of the season, Costello Tagliapietra, where the checkered and grid trend from Autumn/Winter 2013 is re-imagined in vibrant hues and brushstrokes. My favorite look was a pant suit look with a powder blue jacket with a teal and orange pattern in the back."

"My friends Declan, Adam and I then head over to the West Village and come across the Marc by Marc Jacobs store. We saw artists spray painting graffiti on T-shirts in the window and immediately wanted to get a piece of our own!"

"At the Zimmerman show.  It was great to finally make my first trip up to Lincoln Center for Fashion Week. Lincoln Center definitely feels bigger than the previous Fashion Week location of Bryant Park- there is so much outdoor space around the venue which was great especially with the beautiful weather this week!"

"I headed down to Soho for a quick snack at Georgetown Bakery. Forget Magnolia or Bake by Melissa, Georgetown is where it’s at!"

"I visited he home and studio of my good friend and designer, Katherine Kung. She just released her FW13 collection and it was such an honor to see it in real life!"

"The much-anticipated Prabal Gurung show.  What a treat it was! All the models walked out onto the stage prior to the show starting, forming two rows while facing the audience. The music queued and the models began their routine. Each walking around the venue, displaying Gurung’s techno-fashion vision to a classical soundtrack."

"After a quick afternoon cocktail up at Barneys New York to celebrate the launch of Inez and Vinoodh’s Byredo fragrance and jewellery line, we made our trip down to Alexander Wang’s show at the Piers. Alexander Wang goes back to his roots of street fashion this season with his iconic hits: chunky heels (which I need to buy immediately), stylish cropped separates in leather cut-outs and slightly deconstructed shirts."

spring 2014: no. 21

Alessandro Dell'Acqua's collections for his label, No. 21, just keep getting stronger and stronger.  The 3-year old label has fast become one of the 'must see' shows of Milan Fashion Week.  His latest collection was a smashing success--as each piece came down the runway, we found our ourselves adding more and more to our must have lists, until it seemed we were starting to go internally bankrupt!  And then even more beautiful pieces came streaming down the runway.  It was almost unbearable!  From the sheer, beaded overlays, to the gorgeous little tailored jackets to the incredibly versatile lace and and cotton shirts, we found ourselves salivating over literally the entire collection.  The social media landscape was abuzz with excitement during his show, in particular, our Instagram feed buzzed wildly with video uploads to show how those gorgeous sheer skirts moved and how the beading glistened in the spotlights.  Definitely one of Alessandro's strongest collections for No. 21 yet--this guy just keeps getting better and better!
