home sweet home

If you're like us and you often find yourself wondering if the living spaces of designers are as inspired and reflective of their fashion designs, then you'll love sass & bide girls Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke's killer paradise home in Palm Beach, Australia. Built in the '40s, it was once occupied by a flamboyant gay fashion designer and a well-known Australian painter.  The whole front of the house facing the bay is open air, reveling in sunlight during the day and displaying stunning sunsets at dusk.  The design of the interior space itself is absolutely reflective of the girls' sass & bide aesthetic; it features ethnic trinkets sourced from markets all over the world, bright pops of colour and interesting patterns, and a decidedly warm and happy feel throughout the whole space.  Definitely the perfect pad to get their design inspiration rolling!

little black jacket

Chanel's Little Black Jacket exhibition is coming to Hong Kong, with a public exhibit taking place at The Space from 7-16 July; the exhibit is a celebration of one of Chanel's most iconic pieces, the little black jacket, photographed by the house's current designer Karl Lagerfeld, styled by the indelibly chic Carine Roitfeld and featuring some 100+ images of celebrities all over the world.  A little black jacket is indeed a wardrobe staple, and it comes in an astonishing variety of styles suitable for every woman.  Here at Electric sekki, we see lots of gorgeous little black jackets each season; below, see some of our favourites for SS12.

best bet: izziyana suhaimi

We at the office are all loving this mixed-media artwork by Singaporean artist, Izziyana Suhaimi.  Izziyana is not only an ultra talented illustrator with an interest in fashion, she's also a master embroiderer -- her work often mixes these two media to create something thoroughly fresh and original.  The fashion world has recently started a mad love affair with embroidery, as the Fall/Winter 2012 season was filled with ethnic influences and inspirations.  Well, the fashion world has also started a mad love affair with Izziyana's embroidered artwork; she's already earned a shout-out on Frankie's website, been commissioned by Nylon Singapore to create a cover, and been featured on one of our favourite fashion and lifestyle blogs, Because I'm Addicted.  Be wowed by Izziyana's gorgeous work below...

All of this amazing embroidery work made us think of this sass & bide jacket from their Spring/Summer 2012 collection.  Love it as much as we do?  Well, you're in luck because it's on sale in stores now...

in full bloom

It's not uncommon for exotic plants and flowers to inspire the fashion and make-up industries; the vivid colours and intricate patterns you can find on some of nature's masterpieces are undeniably mesmerising.  That's why we love this Vogue Nippon beauty editorial, where they took that relationship to the next level, incorporating orchid overlays on top of the model's flora-inspired make-up.  It's a quintessentially summery spread, with a sensual twist, and it's definitely gotten us in the mood for plum, citrus and crimson lipstick shades for the coming season.
